Busy Camera Weekend

August 17, 2008

This weekend turned out to be filled of fun photography moments, and I would like to share some of them with you. Friday night we ventured into Lancaster City to explore a little, I was trying to get some “Market Overview” shots for advertising purposes at work… Still haven’t quite achieved what I’m looking for, so that’s a job that still on the agenda, but I did get a few neat shots anyway.

Here is a shot of the new Music Academy from the Orange Street Parking Garage Top.

Do you know where this is?

Back Alley around Central Market.

Crossing the street I caught the sun setting behind Central Market.

Evening Sun is great for photography! I just love the warmth this photo has.

Saturday morning I spent with Rachel at Longwood Gardens for some Senior Portrait fun. Some images from Saturday will appear soon, but I have to share an update on the bee-hive. For those of you that don’t know — Jared’s mom lost a tree about two months ago to one of our thrilling thunderstorms. Turns out the tree was actually home to thousands of honey-bees! We had a local bee expert come and work on saving the hive. Saturday night he came back to check on things. Based on the new appearance he must have located the queen bee by hand, and placed her in the new hive — he did this to force all the little worker bees to move into the hive and out of the tree. Now the tree has a HUGE hole in it and there are lots of bees flying around working hard to relocate everything! I have a few shots I grabbed today— you’ll be amazed at all the bees!

Here is the tree… you can get a feeling for the size of the hive inside the tree. We are guessing it’s been there for years! That’s probably a good 3-4 foot section of tree cut open.

Some of the comb that he pulled out of the tree. The “middle” one is covered with bees! So cool to see!

Here is a closer look into the tree… lots of bees buzzing around! Buzz! Buzz!

Here they are going in and out of the new hive. This turned out to be a pretty good shot – you can see a few bees actually in flight!

EXTREME CLOSEUP! Don’t get stung!

Jared, Zoey and I managed to escape without being stung. Pretty amazing to think that we were that close to quite a few bees and none of them really had any interest in us! Jared is ready to start bee-keeping and I think I might just let him! :-) Anyone have any land they are willing to donate! HAHA!
