I had a great time with Amy Saturay morning. I had the pleasure of shooting at Longwood Gardens again. I will suggest anyone that has not been there — add it to your things to do someday. I’m looking forward to my first trip there for just the flowers! Anyway — back to Amy. As a photographer herself, I was honored she choose me to take her senior portraits. Knowing her love of film and developing her own work I decided to take a few of my favorites and convert them to black and white… Below you will find a small selection of the many excellent shots we got!

A little black and white action — something I need to do more of! I love the high contrast in this photo… really sets her stylish hat off.

Still in the children’s area… I could have spent the whole day here… anyway, notice the smiley face on the wall behind Rachel, well that’s her art work!

Thought Provoking and a little Scary all at the same time.

More fun with the hat… and how about that window? Great colors!

This is one of my favs from the day…

One more… this was out atop the waterfall. Next time I want to explore the bottom of the waterfall a little and see what’s availble down below.

This was just a small sample of what Rachel and I created at Longwood Gardens… Time will tell what locations I get to explore next! Thanks for the fun Rachel!
Busy Camera Weekend
August 17, 2008This weekend turned out to be filled of fun photography moments, and I would like to share some of them with you. Friday night we ventured into Lancaster City to explore a little, I was trying to get some “Market Overview” shots for advertising purposes at work… Still haven’t quite achieved what I’m looking for, so that’s a job that still on the agenda, but I did get a few neat shots anyway.

Crossing the street I caught the sun setting behind Central Market.

Evening Sun is great for photography! I just love the warmth this photo has.

Saturday morning I spent with Rachel at Longwood Gardens for some Senior Portrait fun. Some images from Saturday will appear soon, but I have to share an update on the bee-hive. For those of you that don’t know — Jared’s mom lost a tree about two months ago to one of our thrilling thunderstorms. Turns out the tree was actually home to thousands of honey-bees! We had a local bee expert come and work on saving the hive. Saturday night he came back to check on things. Based on the new appearance he must have located the queen bee by hand, and placed her in the new hive — he did this to force all the little worker bees to move into the hive and out of the tree. Now the tree has a HUGE hole in it and there are lots of bees flying around working hard to relocate everything! I have a few shots I grabbed today— you’ll be amazed at all the bees!
Here is the tree… you can get a feeling for the size of the hive inside the tree. We are guessing it’s been there for years! That’s probably a good 3-4 foot section of tree cut open.

Some of the comb that he pulled out of the tree. The “middle” one is covered with bees! So cool to see!

Here is a closer look into the tree… lots of bees buzzing around! Buzz! Buzz!

Here they are going in and out of the new hive. This turned out to be a pretty good shot – you can see a few bees actually in flight!

EXTREME CLOSEUP! Don’t get stung!
Jared, Zoey and I managed to escape without being stung. Pretty amazing to think that we were that close to quite a few bees and none of them really had any interest in us! Jared is ready to start bee-keeping and I think I might just let him!
Anyone have any land they are willing to donate! HAHA!
