Kortnee Preview

October 20, 2008

Here is a teaser shot from one of my senior sessions yesterday. This is Kortnee, a senior at Lampeter Strasburg. We had some fun at Lancaster County Park, but this time we explored the area around the covered bridge and not Rockford. We had a lot of fun and I had to post one of my favorites and I know one of Kortnee’s too (she saw a sneek-peek of this image on my camera!)

More to follow! Promise!

Miranda

October 19, 2008

I have a little bit of time between today’s sessions so I thought I would share a few shots from Miranda’s session. I met Miranda right before I headed to New York. We had a lot of fun at the horse farm she works at. It was a great place! Here are just a few of my favorites.

There is just something about this shot I fell in love with. I think it’s the high contrast between the tree and the background and how only her face is properly exposed, drawing your eyes right to hers…

This was a quick spot she picked as we were walking back to the barn, and I loved it. Tucked in behind the flowers… a great combo of rustic country and beautiful nature.
I’ve found it rather fun to work with so many dogs. Pretty soon I’m going to consider myself a pet photography expert! HAHA! As always, additional friends, family, props and pets are no problem with my sessions…
The next shot has to top my list of most “dangerous” place to shoot thus far… a hayloft! Personally I’ve never been in a hayloft until meeting Miranda… not sure which was worse, climbing up the “ladder” with my camera and shoot sac around me or walking around on the bails of hay! Either way, it was fun and I’m glad I ventured up there!

Not only dogs but horses too!!!

Another fun pose we found that I personally love! I love just exploring the options and seeing where they lead.
Awesome close up!
Have to say I love the back light in this one…
Stayed tuned… two more sessions on their way! I still have some slots in November for anyone still looking for senior portraits! Give me a buzz and we’ll work something out! It’s also not too early to start thinking about Family Portraits for Christmas! Book now while the weather is still nice and we can do them at your favorite location.

Upstate New York

October 15, 2008

Jared and I spent some of the past week in up-state New York, Essex to be exact. His uncle has a house on the lake that he so graciously allows us to use. Here are just a few of my favorite shots from the week – I won’t bore you with my vacation photos because I know how unfun it is looking at someone elses vacation photos! :-)

Our first trip was to Ausable Chasm. We wanted to go there last year, but they had closed for the season. It was very neat and amazing! These photos don’t quite do it justice, so if you’re ever in the area I would suggest checking it out. http://www.ausablechasm.com/

This is looking down along the edge from the road way. Trying to put in perspective how far down it is.

This is a bridge over the Ausable River, this would have been considered the top of the river… it flows down into the chasm.

It’s really much bigger than it looks…

Mr. Darrenkamp at his finest! :-)

Okay, this one might help… if you look closly at the bottom right area of the photo you will see one of the trails we were walking on.

The best part for me was the trip up Whiteface Mountain. Here is a shot from the entrance of the Ski Area. Whiteface is the only Adirondack mountain that is accessable by a highway to the summit. So we were able to get to the top of the 5th tallest Adirondack mountain without walking hours and hours. Here is a shot from the bottom…
Here is a shot from the top…
This is also from the top, you can see the roadway cutting through the mountain. That’s the road we took to the top.
This is just one of those awesome shots. This is walking in the tunnel to the elevator to the top of Whiteface Mountain. I just love the feeling in this photo. Dark and Creepy…
A Few More

We did a lot of traveling, but also some fun on the lake. This was Jared’s first venture out… needless to say I caved and joined him the next time. It wasn’t too bad!
Here is a shots from Crown Point looking at the bridge that goes from NY to VT. Vermont has a lot of great factory tours… Ben & Jerry’s, Magic Hat Brewery, Cabot Cheese, Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, and lots more. We’ve visited quite a few and know there are plenty more to see. Hope you enjoyed a few shots from the week. Now it’s back to work… vacation is over. Keep watching for more senior portraits!
