Nicole’s City Session

November 28, 2008
You might remember Nicole from over the summer at Rockford Plantation.  Well, we finally were able to schedule her second session in the city.  It was another cold November Sunday, but we worked quickly and got some great shots.  Here are a few of my favs from the session.

We started ontop of the Orange Street garage.  This was a short stay because it was windy!  We managed just a few shots where Nicole’s hair wasn’t blowing all over creation…  here is one

Here we are along the streets of market again.

My purple door was “open” so we couldn’t use it — but we still had fun with all the red and bricks!

This is the first time I’ve worked with this window.  It was PERFECT for Nicole!  I found a new fav spot.  Thankfully it wasn’t full of all kinds of crazy decorations and advertisements like all the others were.

Now this last shot is going to be one of those shots that many will like and just as many won’t.  I always like messing with my photos in various post production processess to see what I can create.  This has it’s own look to it.  It’s a little mysterious, a little sexy, and just eye-grabbing…  what do you think – 16×24 gallery warp worthy??

I think this is the last of my seionr sessions until next spring…  but stay tuned because I have a few surprises up my sleeve this winter.

Saturday was supposed to be my second attempt with Katie, but the weather decided not to cooperate once again.  We decided to brave the cold on Sunday and give her session a shot.  If you weren’t outside at all last Sunday — good for you!  Boy did winter come knocking!  Not only was it cold, but it was windy.  Katie put up with a lot and we managed to still get some great shots (even though she was freezing!)

Here are just a few from her session.

One thing you might notice is how I love “serious look” shots.  Now, not everyone can be so serious so they don’t always work…  but Katie could do it and again I fell in love with her “serious” face.

Okay, we’ll smile some more!

I love this purple door!  One day I’m going to have my picture taken in front of it!  It’s just a great color purple!

Not quite serious, not quite a smile…

That’s just a sample of her session, towards the end she broke out a great pink scarf!  I’m saving those just for Katie!

More Fun with Beth

November 13, 2008

So I think I have my blog just about ready to go live…  there might still be some small tweeking, but I think most of the bugs are worked out.  I thought I would celebrate with some more images from my session with Beth.  This time of year is a challenge for outdoor photos…  most of the trees are without leaves, it’s cold and the colors are just rather drab.  Luckily we had a tree that was still full of color…  lots of bright yellow leaves both on the tree and on the ground.

I’ve enjoyed taking many wedding photos in this same spot, but never at this angle!  One day I might convince a bride to lay down along the edge…  This would make a great trash the dress shot — HEY!  Seniors — keep me in mind if you want to “trash” your prom dress in the sping!!

Along with the yellow tree, we found some roses…  yes, there were still rose bushed in bloom!

Now Beth might yell at me for posting this next shot, but I think it’s just a cute shot!  There’s almost always at least one shot that comes from one of us just “trying” something.  I was determined to use the entrance fence in some way… we started with this shot…  which I think makes Beth look like a cat…

and ended up with this…  which I like equally as much for just different reasons.

I loved Beth’s “serious” look!

We ended out session across the street in a “Fuzzy Bean” field.  I’m growing to love tall grass fields – or in this case, tall bean fields.

There should be at least one more senior session to come.  Depending on the weather and schedules, I should be meeting up with Nicole again for her second session and possible a session with a new Katie.
