I just had a fantastic vacation at the Dreams Resort in Punta Cana.  This was my first trip to a “tropical” place (other than the quick visits during the honeymoon cruise).  I know looking at other people’s vacation photos is about as fun as getting a root canal, so I’ll keep them quick and stick to pretty scenery shots!

This first shot was from the bus window – that’s what the ugly smudge is about!

Our first day was about 12 hours of travel and 12 hours of overcast skies and rain.  This is from the balcony of our room.  The pool was awesome!  It went the full length of the resort – this is probably 1/6 of it!

This next shot was a challenge — traveling without a tri-pod.  My camera is resting on my camera bag which is balancing on a small plastic table.  This exposure was a few seconds, making it impossible to capture while holding…  needless to say, I’m now looking for advice on a good travel tri-pod as I would have loved to set this up on a good, solid surface to see what else I could have achieved.

I forced my hubby out of bed the second morning to catch the sunrise.  Who doesn’t love either the sun rise or the sun set over the ocean.

This next shot is one of my favorites.  I think it’s because it’s what my view was for most of the week.  I spent a good bit of my time under the palms and umbrellas – being fair skinned and all!  This shot was actually taken from my pool-side chair.  This might be my choice for gallary wrapping.

Beach-Side…  in the “Preferred Club” area…  we later found out we weren’t supposed to be sitting there.  Whoops!  :-)

Miles of empty, deserted beach…  how relaxing.

Another pool-side shot…  That’s looking at our building from some near-by chairs…  All the drink needed was a little umbrella.

Funny story — well, maybe not funny…  but this next shot is of the neighboring resort.  A few of the other people in our party wandered down to it along the beach earlier in the week and said it was the strangest thing — it looked like everyone just got up and left.  Deserted, but the pool and everything looked clean and ready for use.  We later found out they closed it down like two weeks prior.  Apparently the owner wasn’t paying his taxes, or something like that…  they went in with all their “powerful people with guns” and shut them down.  Glad we weren’t staying there, not a fun way to end your vacation.

Anyone who has flown has probably taken a photo out the plane window…  they usually are pretty ugly…  the windows being so thick and safe and such!  Well during the depressing and BUMPY flight home we caught a quick glimps of a rainbow.  I quickly dug under my seat to grab my camera, not knownig how well it was going to come out…  I was actually very surprised that you could even recognize the rainbow in the shot…  Of course I have punched this up a little, to help it pop just a little bit more…  I have one where the rainbow is much clearer, but it’s against just clouds….  very boring.  I love the plane wing and the life below…  just gives this rainbow some special life.

Okay, that’s all I’ll bore you with!  Hope you enjoyed you mini vacation!
